One day,
planned properly.
Staying in Cairo, Luxor or on the Red Sea and want to see more? We arrange private day trips with a car, driver and Egyptologist, timed to avoid the crowds and the heat.
Where people
go for a day.
Saqqara, Dahshur and Memphis
The oldest pyramids, decorated tombs and the colossus of Ramesses II. About 6 hours.
Alexandria
Catacombs, the citadel and the Corniche. A long day of about 12 hours; we suggest staying the night.
Abu Simbel
The temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari, by road before dawn or by a short flight.
A balloon at sunrise
About 45 minutes in the air over the west bank, with hotel pick-up before dawn.
Dendera and Abydos
Two of the finest temples in Egypt, north of Luxor, with very few visitors.
A boat to the islands
Snorkelling at the Giftun islands from Hurghada or in Ras Mohammed from Sharm.
Luxor in a day
Possible from Hurghada or Marsa Alam, about four hours each way. Long, but it works.
St Catherine's Monastery
The monastery at the foot of Mount Sinai, with an optional overnight climb for sunrise.
A Nubian village
A boat to the west bank for tea, food and music in a Nubian home.
A good day out
is in the detail.
Our day trips include a private air-conditioned car and driver, a licensed Egyptologist guide, entry tickets for the sites listed and bottled water in the car. Lunch can be included or left for you to choose on the day.
We start early wherever it helps. At most sites the first hour after opening is the coolest and the quietest, and an early start means you are back at your hotel by mid-afternoon.
Tell us where
you are staying.
Send your hotel, dates and the trip you are interested in. We will reply with timings and a price for your group.
